A Bathing Ape (or BAPE®) is a Japanese brand founded by Tomoaki "Nigo" Nagao in 1993. When Nigo decided to start his own brand, he named it after the 1968 film, Planet of the Apes. The name "A Bathing Ape" is short for a Japanese saying "bathing in lukewarm water." BAPE's collection of men, women and kid's apparel, footwear and accessories is well recognized around the world due to its flashy designs, original artwork, creative incorporation of camouflage and the use of premium materials.
